The role that ‘exercise as medicine' plays in health is a major part of Kate's research and teaching. She has leads two research programs, in the effects of acute exercise in reducing pain and adverse events after vaccination, while improving the immune response and the role for exercise during treatment for cancer. Kate's work has developed into examination of other behavioural factors, such as yoga, psychological stress, sedentary behaviour, dog ownership and sleep, on immune function and regulation in health and disease.
