My research interests are in the assembly and transmission of virus particles. I am particularly interested in the molecular mechanisms that occur in order for influenza to assemble an infectious virus particle and for that particle to transmitted from one host to another. My previous work focused on the role of the cytoplasmic tail of the influenza M2 protein in the incorporation of the internal virus components. I have identified individual amino acids in the M2 cytoplasmic tail that are critical for that function, and future work will focus on identifying why those residues are critical
