The Department of Public Health at Wayne State University invites applications for two faculty positions: a tenure-track Assistant Professor position and a unique Pathways Post-Doctoral Fellow-to-Tenure-Track position. We seek active and engaged colleagues with demonstrated research, teaching, and service interests in ELIMINATING HEALTH DISPARITIES AND SOCIAL INEQUALITIES.  Candidates may center their work in a wide range of areas including gun violence; built environment impacts; chronic disease; forced migration; food or housing insecurity; substance use, addiction, and recovery; disability; COVID-19, HIV/AIDS, or other infectious diseases; trauma and mental health; health care access and delivery, etc.  

Candidates should have substantive scholarly expertise in one or more defined areas of public health research and practice.  We seek colleagues with an active research program, demonstrated potential for published scholarship, and an ability to draw on this research to inform their teaching and service. Candidates engaged in multidisciplinary research, community-based research collaborations, and social justice and advocacy research are strongly encouraged to apply. We value applications from persons with experience conducting community-based intervention research with urban populations that may utilize a range of quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g., ethnography, Photovoice, and mixed methods). 

Required Qualifications: 

Candidates for all positions must possess a PhD, DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree in a public health-aligned discipline or have their degree conferred by August 15, 2024 for a position starting in the Fall 2024 semester. Candidates who additionally possess an MPH are encouraged to apply. The College is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the academic community's diversity and excellence at Wayne State University.
