To add to our esteemed faculty, we are seeking a tenured track faculty for our Master’s in Public Health program.

Position Summary:

Pace University’s College of Health Professions is seeking Faculty member to join the new Master’s of Public Health Program. The program is located within the Health Science Department. This position will be appointed at either Assistant, Associate or Full professor rank depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. This position may be based at either the New York City Campus or Westchester Campus located in Pleasantville NY.

About the position: The current position offers exceptional opportunities for academic and professional collaboration. The College and University are continually expanding the support for faculty scholarship through internal research funding, teaching release, and integration of scholarship into teaching practice. New initiatives for Interdisciplinary research support across the University is a strong focus. The College believes that the diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the excellence of our academic programs. We are seeking a strong public health researcher and innovative teacher who is committed to contributing to the growth of a young and dynamic program.

About the Master of Public Health: The MPH program is expected to launch its first cohort in fall 2024. Course delivery will be both online and in hybrid format. This interdisciplinary and interprofessional program includes faculty from CHP and the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. The MPH program concentration will focus on global health inequities, specifically eliminating health inequities in a sustainable manner by addressing the social determinants of health in order to improve the health and wellbeing of local, national and global populations.

About the Department of Health Science: The growing Department of Health Science, situated at the New York City (downtown) and Pleasantville campuses, is currently comprised of 5 full-time primary faculty members. The Department’s faculty address pressing public health and global health issues and are recognized both nationally and internationally for their important contributions to scholarship, education, policy, and practice. The Department’s flagship program, the Bachelor of Science in Health Science, educates 300 Health Science students. An MSc in Health Informatics is also slated to begin in Fall 2023. The Department is housed within the College of Health Professions, with faculty members appointed within undergraduate and graduate programs in Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, Communication and Speech Disorders, and Nutrition and Dietetics.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and developing public health courses as appropriate to one’s field of expertise and others as required by the Chair
  • Collaborating with faculty within the program to ensure a quality program and outcomes
  • Collaborating with faculty beyond the program to contribute to our School and University interdisciplinary initiatives
  • Actively participating in a variety of service opportunities including accreditation activities and other program, departmental, college, and university committees
  • Developing relationships with community-based organizations and public health agencies to build Capstone placement opportunities for MPH students as well as develop collaborative community-based research initiatives
  • Advising and mentoring MPH students
  • Maintaining an active research program, publishing research papers and seeking external research funding

Position Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess a PhD, DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree in a public health-aligned discipline
  • Candidates who additionally possess an MPH are encouraged to apply
  • Graduate level teaching experience preferred
  • Strong record of scholarly achievement and a track record of (or potential for) securing extramural funding, depending on the rank applied for
  • The candidate may be appointed at either the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank and must be tenure-eligible
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring graduate students and working with a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated experience teaching via multiple modalities including remotely and online Strong, culturally competent interpersonal and communication skills
  • We seek candidates who will help support the program’s mission of conducting multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration; and further develop program faculty strengths in global health and health equity research
  • Candidates able to teach intermediate and advanced biostatistics courses, quantitative and qualitative public health research methods, health economics, and complex interventions for health inequities are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Experience with CEPH program accreditation a plus
  • We are especially interested in candidates with experience and a commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion and collegiality among a culturally diverse university community

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 1-3 years graduate teaching experience
  • Ability to teach intermediate and advanced biostatistics courses
  • CEPH accreditation experience
  • Candidates whose scholarship and lived experience advances the university’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Existing connections with health organizations in the NYC or Westchester area
