The Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences (CDS) in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Buffalo invites applicants to apply for a teaching-focused faculty position as Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor in communicative disorders and sciences (CDS). This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track appointment anticipated to begin in August 2024. The initial appointment will be for a three-year term and with the opportunity for renewal. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.

CDS at UB is a national leader in clinical education and research, and offers undergraduate, accredited graduate (AuD, MS-SLP), and PhD degrees. Clinical faculty are members of the CDS faculty with voting rights and multi-year renewable contracts. Clinical faculty are eligible for promotion through the ranks (assistant, associate, and full). The Department and College support faculty through opportunities for interprofessional collaborations and professional development.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide classroom teaching and experiential learning for graduate and undergraduate students in Communicative Disorders and Sciences. The ideal candidate may teach in areas of audiology, speech-language pathology, and/or speech and hearing science. This individual may also play a key role in the day-to-day administration of the undergraduate or graduate program in speech-language pathology or audiology, ensuring teaching and clinical training compliance to maintain our ASHA/CAA accreditation, depending on experience and credentials. Teaching load will be adjusted as needed to accommodate administrative responsibilities.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Teach 4 courses, or equivalent responsibilities per semester in the fall and spring semester and 2 courses in the summer, including undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Develop innovative educational offerings for students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Provide mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Assume service responsibilities appropriate to appointment level within the university.
