Job Summary
Carry out duties and responsibilities that are designed to contribute to achievement of the established outcomes for the undergraduate departments.

- Demonstrated ability in teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate level.
- Skills in cross-cultural communication and multi-cultural competence.
- Experience in nursing education.
- Knowledge in Alcorn State University instructional software.
Essential Job Functions
- Contributes to developing and monitoring departmental long-range and annual plans.
- Implements appropriate instructional methodologies to foster and promote the teacher-learning processes.
- Facilitates the development of course objectives, outlines, and students’ performance expectations.
- Maintains prescribed clinical and classroom teaching assignments and face-to-face office or online hours.
- Maintains overload hours if required.
- Grades assignments, provides feedback and post grades according to University guidelines.
- Assesses the instructional needs of students in the program and help coordinate the development of a plan to address these needs.
- Cooperates with other faculty in carrying out activities designed to enhance the quality of the instruction, research and public service programs of the department/university.
- Assist with program annual reports and accreditation reports.
- Participate in student advising, community service, and student recruitment activities.
- Engage in personal, ongoing professional development.
Other Duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in nursing is required.
- One year of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
- Must satisfy a criminal history background check.
- Experience in undergraduate education preferred; skill in on-line education a plus.
Licensing and Certifications
- Candidates must be eligible for or currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Mississippi. Selected candidates must complete the State of Mississippi Registered Nurse licensure process prior to appointment.
- National certification in an area of clinical specialty or nursing education is desired.
