The Department of Physical Therapy (PT), College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Kentucky is currently accepting applications for a full-time 12-month appointment, non-tenure-eligible faculty member at rank determined by qualifications in the Clinical Title Series, to begin employment at the Lexington campus by August 1, 2025 or as soon thereafter as possible.

The faculty member hired into this position will serve on the core faculty of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, with primary responsibilities to the program while also performing clinical practice in acute care with UK Health Care. Primary duties of this position include teaching of clinical skills in the practice of physical therapy in the relevant content areas of expertise for the PT program, providing clinical practice in acute care physical therapy at UK Health Care, building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external constituents, mentoring students, and developing or contributing to a scholarly agenda. The distribution of effort for this position will be 40% clinical practice at UK Health Care, and approximately 40-50% instruction in the DPT program, 5-10% scholarship/research, and 5-10% service. The faculty member will also have the opportunity for a leadership role in a clinical residency program in acute care physical therapy or other related areas of practice alongside UK Health Care. Faculty may also assume an active role in the CHS Rehabilitation and Health Sciences PhD Program, a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional Ph.D. program with faculty and students from disciplines such as Athletic Training & Clinical Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology.


About the Physical Therapy Program
 
The Physical Therapy program at UK has been educating physical therapists since 1967. Our program is conducted at the Lexington, Kentucky campus and at the Center of Excellence in Rural Health in Hazard, Kentucky. The qualified candidate will join an outstanding academic faculty devoted to teaching, research, clinical practice, and service. Our faculty is comprised of numerous physical therapists with post professional doctoral training who are involved in clinical, bench, and educational research, and clinical faculty involved in delivery of patient care services. Our research portfolio is diverse and places a high value on translational and interdisciplinary science.
