    Position Summary
    The Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) invites applications for an open-rank, non- tenure-track (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Professor) faculty position in the Department of Applied Health Science. The SPH-B seeks individuals who will contribute toward academic excellence in teaching in support of our mission of preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. This 10-month appointment would ideally start August 1, 2025. The Department of Applied Health Science unites a multidisciplinary faculty with expertise in social and behavioral science applied to health; nutrition and dietetics; opioids, addictions, and substance use prevention; sexual and reproductive health; human development and family studies/youth development; safety/total worker health/injury prevention; maternal and child health; and global public health, all pursuing the common goal of preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.     Basic Qualifications
    Qualifications: Doctoral or terminal degree in relevant field (e.g. PhD, ScD, DrPH, MD), a record of teaching excellence related to Total Worker Health/Safety Management/Safety Science, experience working in the safety field, experience advising and mentoring students, perspectives and experiences that reflect a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Candidates should have teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially within diverse faculty members and students are required. The ideal candidate will 1) bring real-world experience in Total Worker Health/Safety Management/Safety Science, 2) have a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, and 3) have a deep understanding and the ability to convey conceptual knowledge and skills in fundamental principles in Total Worker Health/Safety Management/Safety Science. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or willingness to pursue the CSP, preferred.


    This position is located on the campus of Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana, and successful candidates are expected to work on the Bloomington campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, campus, and community.

    Additional Qualifications
    Responsibilities: This open-rank, non-tenure track (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Professor) faculty member in the Department of Applied Health Science is expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of the department through teaching and service.


    This faculty member will teach important courses, including both undergraduate and graduate students, which aligns with the IU 2030 priority of enhancing the field of disease prevention and responding to student interests and workforce demands. In line with this priority, the faculty member will contribute to the development of new academic programs or the expansion of existing areas that are projected to attract increased student interest, credit hour generation, and align with the demands of the workforce.The selected candidate will serve on the faculty in the programmatic area of Total Worker Health/Safety Management/Safety Science. The teaching expectation will be six courses per year (three courses in the Fall term and three courses in the Spring term). Courses taught will be related to one's interests, expertise, and needs of the program. The Department of Applied Health Science offers several degree programs including safety-focused degrees such as the BS Applied Health Science - Safety Major, an online MS Applied Health Science in Safety Management, an online Graduate Certificate in Safety Management, an undergraduate Certificate in Safety Management, an undergraduate minor in Safety, a minor in Safety Management at the doctoral level, and the Ph.D. in Health Behavior, which allows students to pursue research in areas related to Total Worker Health, Safety Management and/or Safety Science.
