    Position Summary


    The University at Buffalo, School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP), Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences (ENS) is recruiting a state funded, 10-month faculty position at the Clinical Assistant Professor rank to join the Masters of Science in Athletic Training Program.

    The Masters of Science in Athletic Training began in 2018 and gained initial accreditation from the CAATE in 2020. It is housed as part of the Academic Health Center (Schools of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing) allowing for seamless integration of inter-professional education and access to facilities such as a simulation center. Since its inception, it has a 100% overall BOC pass rate and 100% job placement rate. The program has over 70 clinical sites and over 100 preceptors throughout the country. With the continued growth of the athletic training program, this is a new faculty position.

    Responsibilities may include:



      • Teaching graduate athletic training courses within the candidates area(s) of contemporary expertise

      • Contribute to the refinement of the programs framework and participate and contribute to continuous programmatic quality improvement

      • Working with standardized patients and simulation

      • Scholarship within the candidates area(s) of contemporary expertise

      • Assist with maintaining CAATE accreditation

      • Perform service to the program, profession and School of Public Health and Health Professions to possibly include working the NHL Players Combine, NHL Officials Combine and Buffalo Marathon medical team

    About the Department:
    The Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences is one of the academic units in the School of Public Health & Health Professions. There are well-established research programs and excellent facilities available within the Department and School. The Department offers a BS in Exercise Science, a BS in Nutritional Sciences, a BS/MS in Exercise Nutrition, an MS in Clinical Nutrition leading to the Registered Dietician credential, an MS degree in Athletic Training, MS degrees in Nutrition and Exercise Science and PhD degrees in Exercise Science and Nutrition. The Department is home to the Center for Research and Education in Special Environments (CRESE), which is a state-of-the-art facility for performing research at altitude, depth and extremes of temperature.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • Prior clinical experience

    • 2 years of teaching experience

    • Earned Masters Degree

    • Applicants must have an earned degree in Athletic Training (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited CAATE Program

    • Board of Certification (BOC) credential

    • Licensed (or eligible) to practice as an athletic trainer in New York State



    Preferred Qualifications



    • Earned doctoral degree or doctoral degree in progress in athletic training (DAT, PhD, EdD, DHs) or related field

    • Evidence of peer-reviewed publications and/or other peer-reviewed products



    Physical Demands


    Salary Range
    $68,000 - $75,000
